Hallo, Guten Tag!

Hallo, Guten Tag! (Hello, Good Day!) -this is how they usually greet you in Germany. After 17 years of living and working as an ICU Nurse in Germany, I decided to go back to my country,
the Philippines, in March of 2004. Why? There are a lot of reasons. One of them is to take care of my child-help projects which I started in November 2002, in the small town of Quirangay,
Camalig, Albay. In this small town, I acquired 1000sq meters of a mountain lot, at the foot of
Mount Mayon, an active volcano. A very nice and scenic place with plentiful coconut trees,
abundant mineral water and beautiful plants and flowers! An ideal place to settle after years of
working and living abroad. Not too expensive, not too crowded and peaceful. Well, I thought
that place will be my home forever. At least, I survived a year. I have a lot of stories to tell of my experiences as a "Balikbayan", returning resident, with a German surname but let me share with you first how it came to this blog title - Friends from Germany.

During the time as I studied Nursing at the University of Heidelberg, I gained several German friends who are until now giving me not only moral but also financial support so that I can continue my vision for a satisfying life. These friends helped me and are still helping me go on
with my child-help projects in the towns of Quirangay, Pawa and Bogtong. For these German,
and some Austrian friends, I am dedicating and sharing these thoughts. So, the next post will
be in Deutsch, the German language.

Auf Wiedersehen!
